PLAN FOR GRADUATION
I have one term left before I walk, what am I going to do?
Well, I'll be taking:
- English 202 Technical Communications
- English 384 Literature of the American West
- Physics 105 Stars and Cosmology
- 4-credit Internship: Co-Director of "As You Like It," by William Shakespeare. For Taft Elementary and The Shake It Up After School Program.
I hope to be working closely with Professor Martin Corless-Smith, Professor Karen Euhling, and Professor Matthew Haynes (developing my writing, publishing, and discussing Grad-School and other post graduation ideas.)
I'll will approach Ashley Gould and Christian Winn (both former teachers of mine who have become good acquaintances) to talk about about their experiences teaching and taking advice from them If I think I might return to B.S.U. with the intent to study and teach in the English Department at a grad level.
And I'll be working with my peers and the E.M.A to participate in as many public readings of my work as possible (including open mic events at public venues and Poetry Slams at the Neurolux and Penguilly's.)
I have professors currently extending an offer to write a letter of recommendation and I have a few M.F.A. programs in mind that I may apply for. So I feel like I am making good progress so far.
But my Primary Focus next term will be the Internship working with kids -- my purpose is to make Shakespeare fun for children and I will give them 100% of my effort and devotion to making this happen. I'm looking forward to helping my community and doing something wonderful for others, not just myself.
Thank You,
Cory Peavey
